General Health Policy

Your child's health is important to us. The following guidelines are set in the best interest of all the children. The United Methodist Church Day Care cannot care for a sick child.

Immunizations must be kept up-to-date for each child. A copy of this record must be given at the time of enrollment to keep on file.

Each child will be observed for contagious diseases and for other signs of illness upon arrival and throughout the day. When your child is absent for health reasons or other causes, please notify the day care staff by 9:00 am.

Please keep your child at home if they:

Are not fever/vomit/diarrhea free for 24 hours
Have been on antibiotics for less than 24 hours
Has discolored (dark yellow/green) nasal discharge
Has an earache or discharge
Has an unexplained rash
Has untreated head lice or scabies.

These will be periodically checked by the day care staff. Children will NOT be allowed to stay if they are found to have nits or lice.
Have symptoms of a possible communicable disease. These symptoms may include sniffles, reddened eyes, sore throat, headache, abdominal pain, and/or fever.

A child that has had nasal or eye discharge, vomiting, or diarrhea without fever, will be sent home at the discretion of the director.

We ask that parents have their child picked up within 30 minutes after being notified of an illness.

When your child returns to day care after being seen by a physician please bring in a doctor's note. Please ask the doctor to state on the note the date that the child was seen, the illness, and the date in which the child may return to the day care.

All children are required to go outside to play (weather permitting). We do not have a sick room for children to stay inside. If you do not want your child going outside, then please keep them at home until they are well.

All children must be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to the Guardian Angel Day Care.
